MY MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE – Winter 2023

Hey friends.

My morning skincare routine is a time for me to put on a good podcast and mentally prepare for the day ahead. I always make a point of making my skincare routine (both morning, and especially evening) time that I slow down and focus on self care.

Here are the products I’m using currently. Some are very affordable, but a few are a bit more spendy, but worth the splurge!

Video Below (Product links are in bold)

Hada Labo HA Foaming Cleanser This cost affective cleanser is a gentle cleanser perfect for morning and appropriate for all skin types. It won’t strip the skin’s moisture barrier, and leave the skin feeling beautiful.

Foreo Luna Mini 3 I used a clarisonic for YEARS until I started getting irritation from it. The Foreo Luna Mini gives the skin a gentle massage and increases blood flow. It’s much easier to clean than my clarisonic was and doesn’t hold bacteria. A very similar, more budget friendly option is here.

Jing Jun Sung Soothing Skin Moisture Essence This essence is a wonderful way to prep and even out the skins porosity before applying active skin care ingredients. It’s light but hydrating; a staple in my skincare routine for years is a good essence as a toner.

Timeless Vitamin C Serum – Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect against sun damage. With consistant use it brightens the skin and helps to even the complexion. It’s been scientifically proven to be one of the heavy hitters in good skincare. Not all vitamin c serums are good, however. Timeless is in an air tight container and contains the most effictive form of Vitamin C, which is L Ascorbic Acid. The timeless serum is not only effective, but affordable.

Tula Wrinkle Treatment Drops – If you haven’t tried anything by Tula, start with the Wrinkle Treatment Drops. This is a retinol product that I use in the morning (because I use tretinoin at night) If you do not use a retinol in your evening routine, the Tula Wrinkle Treatment Drops would be a great way to start. Because it’s in a Squalane base, it’s super gentle on the skin!

Alpha Skincare Glycolic Serum 14% As we age our skin doesn’t regenerate as quickly as it did when we were young. Regular exfoliation with a gentle acid makes such a big difference on the skins tone, texture and radiance. When adding new active ingredients into your skincare routine, always proceed slowly. Try using this glycolic serum once or twice a week and increase to daily if your skin tollerates it. Alpha is a very affordable brand that I’ve used for years.

Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Serum – I’m so impressed with Biossance. The products are thoughtfully formulated with high quality ingredients include squalane oil. I love how radiant, hydrated and plump my skin looks with the Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Skin Plumping Serum. Copper Peptide improves and protects the skin barrier, which is so important as we age.

Arc Sonic Toothbrush Before I got my Arc Sonic Toothbrush I used a Sonicare toothbrush. It was much larger than the Arc and had to sit on a charging base. I love the size of the Arc and the fact that it doesn’t have to sit out on my counter on a base. It’s less expensive than the Sonicare and provides the same powerful cleaning as the more expensive versions.

Elf Lip Exfoliator My daughter, Bella, got me the ELF Lip Exfoliator as a gift several years back, and I’ve been repurchasing ever since. It’s so inexpensive and does a great job exfoliating dry lips. The bullet design is easier to use that dipping your fingers into a jar, and the combination of sugar and oils leave the lips feeling soft. Best of all it’s only $5.

Biossance Marine Algae Eye Cream As far as eye creams go, I’ve definitely spent a lot more on medical grade eye creams that didn’t really do much more than hydrate the under eye skin. The Biossance Marine Alge Eye Cream is a luxurious cream texture that leaves my under eyes feeling smooth and supple all day. I love how it wears alone or under makeup.

Tula Vitamin C Moisturizer Combination products are becoming so much more commonplace. Using this you could skip the stand alone vitamin C Serum that I listed above. Because I’m a bit of a freak about getting as much of the powerhouse ingredients into my skin care regimin, I prefer to depend on my Timeless Vitamin C Serum, but enjoy that this Tula Moisturizer also contains vitamin c. I look at this product as moisturizer more than a treatment product.

Biossance Sheer Zinc Sunscreen I’ve tried A LOT of sunscreens over the past decade and this one is my all time favorite. It feels beautiful on the skin and gives great sun protection. I known I preach sun protection, but it’s so important!! If you get a chance to try the Biossance Sheer Zinc Sunscreen, you won’t be disappointed! (If you have really oily skin, you may be better with the Elta MD UV Clear.

Colorescience Total Eye This holy grail product is one I have purchased over and over since it was first launched. This could replace the Biossance eye cream to simplify your skincare routine. The Colorescience Total Eye brightens, moisturizes, and provides sun protection for the delicate eye area. It’s FANTASTIC!

Aquaphor I use Aquaphor for so many things, but I love it on the lips both morning and night. It’s also great to put a small bit under the eyes. If you haven’t tried slugging, it’s great for treating areas of dryness and plumping up fine lines and wrinkles.

Perfecting Tox // Rentox

For many of us as we age, tox is a big part of keeping wrinkles at bay. It’s the relaxing of specific muscles that allows us to keep the forehead smooth, prevent crows feet, and get rid of the 11s that develop between the eyebrows from a strong furrowing expression.

Over the years I’ve tried many different toxins from around the world. To date, my favorite tox is Rentox. This product is available at Acecosm.com Discount code STACY10 for 10% off site wide.

This video will outline my most recent “perfected” dosing of Rentox along with mapping, depth and safety considerations.

Cheek thread Lift // Mono, PLLA & Triple Threads

Hey friends.

Many of you know that I’m a huge fan of thread lifts for a number of reasons. It’s relatively safe, cost effective, and easy to do if you are comfortable with needles. Unlike dermal filler, there is no risk of vascular occlusion with threads.

Let me break down the different thread types. You’ll hear me reference them in the video below and in other blog posts.

PDO – Polydioxanone – Break down in the skin in about 9 months leaving your own natural collagen behind. PDO is a monofilament suture that has a long duration of absorbability, and high tensile strength, with the additional advantage of maintaining its integrity in the face. PDO is the material used for dissolvable sutures.

PLLA – poly-L-lactic acid – PLLA breaks down in the skin in about 12 months. Poly-L-lactic acid is an absorbable, semi-permanent, injectable implant that can be used to gradually restore volume and stimulate collagen formation.

PCL – Polycaprolactone – PCL threads are the latest monofilament suspension threads of synthetic origin (caprolactone). They regenerate collagen for a longer period than PDO and PLLA threads. PCL threads last in the skin for up to 1.5 years.

PDO threads tend to be the most used thread in the medical community. It’s my personal preference, although I’ve used both PLLA and PCL. All threads, regardless of type, tend to feel the same in the face. I’ve not noticed any difference in the way they feel once placed in the skin.

Here’s my DIY essentials list

Vendor: Acecosm.com

Discount Code: STACY10

Great threads to use are 30g 25mm Mono, 30g 25mm screw, 30g 25mm Triple. I like to keep lengths of 19mm to 60mm on hand for different areas of the face. All thread types can be mixed and matched. If you use PDO, you can also use PLLA and PCL.

Have you tried threads? What were your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you in the comments. xo

Thread Layering // Marionette Lines & Nasolabial Fold Thread Lift // Screw & Mono

Hello friends.

I’m healing up nicely from my recent jaw thread lift. Not much bruising to speak of, however there is some tenderness and inflammation, which does make it slightly difficult to open the mouth wide. It’s important to rest and try to avoid over animation of the face.

The video below is treatment of the Marionette Lines and Nasolabial Fold area using both Screw and Mono threads.

Jawline Thread Lift // Triple, Screw, and Spring Threads

Hey friends!!!

Many of you know that I’m a little obsessed with threads. They really are a quick, relatively easy, and effective way to build your own natural collagen. Not to mention much safer than dermal filler. Threads do a wonderful job at creating lift, reducing wrinkles, and restoring support for the skin. As an alternative to filler, threads can be very effective in many areas of the face. (Video Below)

This will be the first video in a series that will cover jawline, nasal labial folds, marionette lines, cheek lift, brow lift, and temporal hollows. If you aren’t already subscribed to my YouTube channel, you can check it out here. I’d love you to be a part of the Gorgeously Aging community.

Profhilo vs. Ejal 40 // Let’s Compare!

As of the date of this post, Profhilo is at the top of my list for at home facial rejuvenation treatments. Not only because it’s extremely effective at bringing incredible hydration and wrinkle smoothing results with both High andLow molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid; it’s an extremely safe treatment (not cross linked) when done properly.

My choice is to use the intended BAP Technique. I’ll include a video on that in this post.

Tox Series Episode 2 – Smoothing the Forehead & 11’s

I’ve relied on Botox for years to treat my deep horizontal forehead wrinkles. It was the first “big” anti aging treatment I tried. For me, with an incredibly strong frontalis muscle, it was a game changer. Here’s the truth, Rentox out performs Botox and Dysport based on my experience and kicks in much faster. It’s the best tox I’ve tried, and I’ve tried at least a dozen different toxins.

One of the first complaints I hear from women regarding their appearance is their concern for the forehead wrinkles and the 11’s between the eyes. This video will showcase how tox is used to smooth those areas and turn back the hands of time.

Skin Tightening that Works

Loose skin that lacks elasticity is an unfortunate part of aging, but there are ways to prevent skin laxity and tighten sagging skin. This video will go into more detail about the modalities I use for skin tightening that have been the most successful.

My favorite threads for skin tightening are these PDO mono threads in 29g 25mm length from Acecosm.com (Code STACY10) for 10% off site wide.

The Boost LED Mask is another tried and true anti-aging device backed by science. When used regularly this device delivers results.

For Radio Frequency I’ve moved to using the MLAY Professional RF Device. It’s a bit more robust than the previous RF devices I’ve used, but it definitely seems more powerful.

Another great option for improve skin tone, texture and elasticity is regular microneedling. I use the Dr. Pen M8, which I love.

Benefits of Copper Peptides in Skincare

Latest fad or science? What should we know about the power of Copper Peptide? What exactly does it do for our skin?

Copper peptides are now one of the most hyped skincare trends and it is fully backed by science!

Let’s take a deep dive to get to know this research-backed, magical skincare ingredient.

One of my affordable favorites is Complete Copper Peptide Serum. (click link for more information)

How Do Copper Peptides Work?

As the name suggests, it is a compound made of copper and peptides.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that build proteins. They signal the skin to produce some vital complex molecules like – elastin, collagen, and keratin.

Now, these three molecules play the most crucial role in maintaining skin health and youthfulness.

These fibrous proteins provide structural support to the skin cells, improve skin resilience, protect skin from damage, and promote healing.

As we age, the amount of these proteins present in the skin naturally declines. As a result, the skin starts losing its youthful appearance.

Adding the right peptides to your regular skincare routine can help to reduce the depletion of these proteins in the skin. That improves overall skin health and appearance.

Now that we have discussed peptides and how they can enhance your skincare, it’s time to focus on the other element – Copper.

Copper is an essential nutrient for the human body. It plays a vital role in producing red blood cells, maintaining healthy bones, nerves, and blood vessels.

But that’s not all!

Copper has properties that make it an excellent active ingredient for use in skincare.

It helps in the synthesis and stabilization of skin proteins like collagen and elastin. Promotes synthesis of natural skin barrier against free radicals. Also, inhibits oxidative damage at the cellular level.

Top it with potent biocidal properties that keep infection-causing or harmful organisms at bay.

To produce copper peptides, copper is bound to peptides to carry it into the deeper levels of the skin. The tripeptide GHK (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) along with copper (Cu) is used in the most potent copper peptides-based skincare.

GHK-Cu has a wide range of skin benefits including anti-aging and healing.

Skin Benefits of Copper Peptides

You can enjoy a range of skin benefits by using potent copper peptides-based products in your skincare regime. The most prominent benefits include,

  • Reduces skin wrinkles: Copper peptides promote synthesis of collagen and elastin in the skin, helping in the visible reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
  •   Improves skin elasticity: High amount of collagen and elastin synthesis induced by copper peptides naturally improves skin elasticity and resilience.
  • Improves skin texture: By promoting collagen synthesis and reducing collagen breakdown in the skin copper peptides help to improve overall skin appearance.
  • Promotes even skin tone: It boosts the natural healing process of the skin, reduces age spots, acne scars, and general hyperpigmentation caused due to sun/heat exposure.
  • Improves natural skin barrier: Copper peptides have antioxidant properties and can be helpful to reduce skin inflammation. It may also protect skin from common infections to some extent.

How To Include Copper Peptides in Your Skincare?

Copper peptides are most commonly available in the form of serums and creams. This potent compound shows maximum benefits when you use it in skincare products that stay on the skin for long.

You can include copper peptides-based facial serums or creams in your AM as well as PM routine. Using copper peptides twice every day can give the best results.

Yet, depending on the formula you are using there may be some changes. So, check the product label before using and make sure that it has the right concentration of copper peptides.

Copper peptides promote repair and healing of the skin at the cellular level. Hence using it during the night, when the skin’s natural renewal process is at its peak, is certainly beneficial.

If you are using copper peptides in the form of a water-based serum, top it with a heavier oil or moisturizer for maximum absorbency.

Ingredients That You Can Use with Copper Peptides

Remember, using any particular ingredient simultaneously with copper peptides will not enhance its effectiveness. To keep it simple, you can use the serum directly on your cleansed skin and top it up with a proper moisturizer to finish.

You may also combine it with other active ingredients that promote skin hydration and repair. Copper peptides can be safely combined with actives like,

  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Niacinamide

Every skin is unique. So, if you are starting with a new skincare regime, always keep an eye on how your skin behaves to the treatment. Adjust it according to your skin needs.

There are certain active skincare ingredients that might hinder the overall effect of copper peptides and vice versa. So, avoid using these ingredients together.

Ingredients That You Should Not Use with Copper Peptides

  • Vitamin C
  • Retinol
  • Alpha hydroxy acids
  • Beta hydroxy acids

IMPORTANT! You might use these products on alternate days, or at other times when you are not using copper peptides. I use copper peptide almost every day as an after dinner skin care product, waiting several hours to use my curology prescription tretinoin right before bed to avoid using the copper peptide and Retinol together.

If you are using an AHA/BHA based skin exfoliator during the day, it is best to use the copper peptides at night. In case you want to use both in your PM routine, make sure that you maintain a time gap after washing off the exfoliator properly.

Side Effects of Copper Peptides

Copper peptides-based skincare products are generally safe, and they are much gentler than actives like retinol. Yet, overuse may lead to toxicity and other side effects.

Those allergic to copper peptides might experience redness, itchiness, or a prolonged burning sensation on your skin right after application. In such cases, stop using the product immediately. A patch test 24 hours before the application is the best way to go.

Who Should Not Use Copper Peptides?

Copper peptides are generally safe and gentler. Unless you are allergic to it, you can use it in the right concentration following a proper regime.

Note, copper peptides are not directly included in the list of skincare ingredients that you should not use during pregnancy. Yet, if you are pregnant, ask your dermatologist or ob-gyn before using any skincare actives in your routine.

Now you know everything about copper peptides and how you can amp up your skin care for maximum anti aging benefits. If you are planning to include some new effective ingredients in your skincare, copper peptides are a great choice.

Radio Frequency 101 – Everything You Need to Know

Aging is an unavoidable part of life. That doesn’t mean that we can’t slow the aging process, care for our skin, and use technology to look our very best as we age. While there are countless skincare products on the market, there are also modern treatments that can be used to restore your skin (and your confidence!). One of the most advanced technologies that has shown to be effective in improving the skin is radio frequency (RF).

The Evenskyn Lumo is the RF device I use every day! Discount code STACY15 for 15% off site wide.

Here’s what you need to know about RF, including how it works and the benefits it offers.

What is RF therapy?

RF therapy has been used for more than two decades to combat the signs of aging. RF is a nonsurgical way to tighten and contour the skin. It involves using energy waves that heat the deep layer of the skin, known as the dermis.

The heat that’s produced stimulates the production of collagen. Collagen is the most important protein in the body. It gives the skin structure and firmness.

As we get older, the cells produce less collagen. This leads to wrinkles and sagging skin. With radiofrequency therapy, common signs of aging can be reduced, if not eliminated altogether.

The effects of RF treatment

During RF therapy, a handheld device is applied to the treatment area. RF stimulates the structures under the skin with heat. The heat causes targeted, controlled damage to collagen and elastin in the skin. This causes the compounds to unravel, shrink, and contract. In turn, the skin lifts and tightens, which creates a more youthful look.

After this process, the body naturally enters healing mode. Fibroblasts, which are found in the skin’s deepest layers, produce new collagen and elastin. This is known as dermal remodeling, which:

  • – Tightens tissue in the treatment area
  • – Improves skin elasticity
  • – Erases lines and wrinkles
  • – Improves overall volume and texture

The many benefits of RF treatment

There are many notable benefits that people experience after undergoing RF therapy. While RF is best known for tightening the skin and lessening the appearance of wrinkles, the therapy is extremely versatile and offers other notable advantages.

Here are some of the top benefits offered by RF.

Facial contouring

By age 25, we lose up to 2% of our natural collagen each year. Because collagen keeps the skin firm, supple, and bouncy, as levels deplete, fine lines and wrinkles appear on the skin. Aging also impacts the skin’s ability to renew quickly. This causes the skin to look dull and have poor texture.

RF treatment is great for facial contouring on the chin, neck, and jawline. It can also be used to tighten:

  • Bags and wrinkles under the eyes
  • Drooping jowls
  • Sagging between the nose and mouth and marionette lines

One study found that radiofrequency is a valuable procedure that effectively tightens and rejuvenates the skin by enhancing collagen synthesis and content. The study also found that tightening continues for three months after the last treatment.

Soften fine lines

RF treatment is also able to soften fine lines. While fine lines aren’t overly noticeable, they’re often pesky enough to make you look older. A 2018 study found that three treatments over a six-week period significantly reduced the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Improved hydration

Chances are that you’ve heard about hyaluronic acid (HA) and its ability to improve the skin. Hyaluronic acid works with collagen and elastin, and when the two proteins are increased, HA levels increase as well.

After undergoing RF treatments, you’ll enjoy silkier, softer, and better-moisturized skin. HA naturally attracts and binds to water molecules. It’s a key component of your skin’s natural moisture barrier.

HA helps to soothe redness, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and helps the skin to look plumper.

Gradual, natural looking results

A facelift is one of the go-to procedures for achieving a more youthful look. RF therapy causes the body to produce new collagen and elastin. As old and damaged skin is replaced, the new cells are naturally tighter and firmer.

But, these cells aren’t developed overnight. You won’t look like a drastically different person after RF treatment.

Majority of patients desire gradual improvements as they want to continue to look like themselves, just better. Many prefer subtle improvements over dramatic changes, which RF offers.

Long lasting results

Not only does RF offer natural looking results, they’re long lasting as well. Because the treatment increases collagen and elastin production, improvements to your skin can last for up to two years.

Unlike other facial treatments that temporarily plump tissues or stimulate the facial muscles, RF amplifies the skin’s internal healing processes.

Frequently asked questions

Is RF treatment right for me?

Anyone who wants to sculpt and tighten their skin without a long recovery period can undergo RF treatment. It’s extremely beneficial for people who want a healthy glow by invigorating their skin thanks to increased collagen production.

No matter your age or gender, RF treatment can give you a more youthful, dewy look.

Is RF safe for all skin types?

Unlike other skincare treatments, RF is suitable for all skin types, including those with dry or sensitive skin. RF increases oxygen levels in the skin, which freshens your appearance so that you look (and feel!) more youthful.

However, those with certain skin conditions shouldn’t undergo RF therapy, including:

  • Rosacea
  • Active acne
  • Broken capillaries

Schedule a consultation with an RF provider to ensure that the treatment is safe and can provide the results you seek.

How long does it take to see results?

RF therapy creates gradual results. Because everyone’s skin responds to treatment differently, there’s no precise timeline. However, most people start to see improvements within weeks of undergoing RF treatments.

Be aware that results will continue to develop over the next few months.

Is RF treatment safe?

Yes! RF is one of the least risky treatments available today. In fact, RF therapy has received FDA approval. Most patients report that RF therapy is painless and causes little to no side effects.

TCA Peel on Hands & Arms | Treat Hyperpigmentation & Wrinkles

I’m guilty! I constantly overlook my hands and arms when it comes to treating the signs of aging. Total neglect! In the aesthetics and beauty industry, many of us joke that while our faces may look younger from all the attention and care, our hands are a dead giveaway of our age. I know this is true in my case. (TCA Video below)

I do hastily use skincare and sunscreen on my hands as an afterthought, but I giving them a fraction of the attention my face and neck get. The same is true for my chest. I vow to stop neglecting my chest, neck & hands. They deserve some love, too.

The products used in this video area from PlatinumSkinCare.com, which is an incredible company that offers tons of additional education on their website. Everything you ever wanted to know about acids and peels can be found there. Kudos to Platinum Skin Care for doing a fantastic job educating. – Discount code STACY10 gets you 10% off site wide at PlatinumSkinCare.com,

Products used for this TCA Peel

70% alcohol – used to prep the skin after double cleansing

10.5% topical lidocaine to numb the treated area for 20 minutes prior to TCA peel. This can be fond at Acecosm.com – Discount STACY10 also works with Acecosm for a 10% discount site wide.

Peel Prep Solution from PlatinumSkinCare.com to get the skin to an optimal PH for the TCA peel.

13% TCA from PlatinumSkinCare.com – This is applied in layers. Saturate a gauze pad, ensure it’s not dripping, apply in a single layer to the treatment area, and allow five minutes before moving on to a second layer. I did two layer in this treatment, but will progress to three or four layers, working my way up to the maximum five layers per treatment. Always wait five minutes between layers. It’s important to start at the 13% solution before working up to the higher strength TCA. The TCA may cause blanching or frosting as it coagulates proteins in the skin. Not everyone will experience frosting, so don’t worry if you don’t frost. (See video for more information)

Post Peel Neutralizer also from PlatinumSkinCare.com is applied with a gauze pad directly on top of the TCA when it’s ready to neutralize. Follow this with a thorough water rinse, then pat dry.

After drying I added the Vitamin A Dream Peel to infuse the skin with the enormous anti aging benefits of vitamin A as well as encourage faster peeling. The Overnight Dream Peel can be used alone, or in addition to the TCA Peel as I’ve done in this video.

If you are of darker skin tone, a 4-6 on the fitzpatrick scale, you should pre treat with a pigment inhibitor prior for two weeks prior to doing a TCA Peel. Fade bright can be used on all skin types and colors four days after a peel to improve brightening and treatment of hyperpigmentation.

DIY Dermaplaning

One of the best things I do for my skin is dermaplaning, a fancy way of shaving and exfoliating the face. When I tell people that this simple thing will change their skin, they usually express fear of getting a beard. Unless you have an over abundance of testosterone, dermaplaning or shaving the face with a razor will not increase the amount of hair on the face or encourage hair growth. The disposable scalpel I use ensures a sterile tool each time. You can check that out here.

This video will give you some helpful tips. If you’re not comfortable using a scalpel, using a good face razor is something I still use periodically when I want to quickly shave and exfoliate my face.

Benefits of dermaplaning include:

  1. Immediate results. Dermaplaning will immediately exfoliate and smooth the skin, leaving it more radiant.
  2. Skincare products absorb more effectively. Exfoliation and the removal of fine hair allows for improved penatration of active skincare products.
  3. Lessens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  4. Triggers regeneration of skin cells.
  5. Low Risk – Dermaplaning is an easy, yet impactful way to rejuvenate the skin.

The bottom line

Although there are many benefits to dermaplaning, there are also some things to look out for. Dermatologists do not recommend this procedure for patients with cystic acne, those with excessively oily skin, or people with hirsutism or excessive hair growth.
